MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Your National Board has recently returned home after spending two
grueling days working on the REIC Strategic Plan.
Strategic planning is very important to any organization and
especially so for REIC. We need many more members and we want to
retain those members we already have. How to do this?
Strategic planning requires a strong commitment from all of us. We, as
Board members, must lead, support, follow-up and live the results of
this strategic planning process.
We must establish a clear picture of the
planning process, a picture of where our organization is going and
with anticipated outcomes. This picture is one of reality and not a
'wish' list.
Once the key strategies have been developed, we turn our attention to
goals which will enable us to accomplish each of the strategies. These
goals should be SMART....specific, meaningful, measurable, achievable
and time-based.
Effective organizations will identify and develop a clear, concise and
shared meaning of values (beliefs), priorities and direction so that
everyone understands and can contribute.
Values are traits and qualities that we consider worthwhile. They
represent our organizations' highest priorities and deeply held
driving focus. Values define how we interact with each other, our
membership and our internal community.
Each of us is an REIC member because we represent these values, and
along with our experience meld together to form a corporate culture.
We have the power to set the course, and to set the environment.
Some examples of values.....ambition, competency, integrity,
responsibility, respect, dedication, loyalty, creditability, honesty,
teamwork, empathy, accountability, stewardship, accomplishment, but to
name a few.
So we look to you, you who possess the brilliance of these values to
come together positively and openly to make this organization what we
envisioned.
Who are we? What are we? What is our purpose? Where are we going? How
are going to get there and when?
What is our purpose/Mission? Our core values? Our goals? Look to our
website soon to find our answers.
