Membership Dues
Member & Chapter Guide to REIC Membership & Candidate Dues
What are your basic obligations?
- Membership renewal dues must be paid by January 31st each year.
- Individuals who join part way through the year will have their dues pro-rated from the first of the month following approval of membership or candidacy. There are no refunds of membership dues. REIC renewal notices are mailed in November of the preceding year to allow prompt, timely processing.
- Members and Candidates who do not remit dues are subject to termination.
What makes up the total dues amount?
- National Dues – these cover the operation of National office. They are set by the National Board of Directors. The Board may make modest annual increases to membership dues, but larger increases are subject to member approval at a General Meeting. Candidate fees and other fees do not require general approval.
- Incremental Designation Fee – for each additional designation or candidacy, beyond the basic “one”, an incremental fee applies.
- IREM Dues – IREM Dues are charged only to CPM® ARM® and ACoM members and candidates. IREM sets the dues amount on an annual basis.
- Chapter Fees – these fees cover the operation of your local chapter. The fees are set by the Chapter Members on recommendation from the Chapter Management Board. REIC National does not set these fees, and they are forwarded directly to the chapter.
- Late Fee – this charge will be levied to those members and candidates who do not pay by January 31st.
Are there any dues reduction programs?
- REIC offers several Dues Reduction programs. These include recognition of service, long-term membership, and retirement. In some cases (medical hardship, unemployment) dues may be fully waived.
- Please refer to Member & Chapter Guide to REIC Dues Reduction Programs for details.
What is the “Late Fee”?
- The majority of REIC members and candidates pay promptly.
- For those who are more than 30 days late, a “Late Fee” applies. These charges help offset the cost of follow-ups with these individuals, a cost which should not be borne by those who pay promptly.
- For those who make formal payment arrangements, NO LATE FEE SHALL APPLY for arrangements made prior to January 31.
If you can’t pay right now…
While REIC prefers to receive Annual Dues payments in one lump sum, we will under certain circumstances make payment arrangements. The following options are available, with appropriate administration fees:
Semi-Annual - Two Payments - First payment is due immediately and second is due July 15. Administration fee for Semi-Annual payments is $12.00.
Quarterly - Four Payments – First payment is due immediately, followed by April 15; July 15; and October 15. Administration fee for Quarterly payments is $ 24.00.
Monthly - Twelve Payments - First payment due the 15th of the month, balance of payments due the 15th of each month. Administration fee for Monthly payments is $ 48.00
If the individual is paying by cheque, REIC expects to receive all required cheques in advance. If paying by credit card, the understanding is that the payment will be processed automatically on applicable dates.
Following is an example…
| Semi-Annual | Quarterly | Monthly | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Invoiced Amount | $ 465.53 | $ 465.53 | $ 465.53 |
| Administration Fee | $ 12.00 | $ 24.00 | $ 48.00 |
| Total Payable | $ 477.53 | $ 489.53 | $ 513.53 |
| First Payment | $ 238.77 | $ 122.39 | $ 42.84 |
| All other payments | $ 238.76 | $ 122.38 | $ 42.79 |
The administration fee is applicable across the board, whether a member or a candidate. If you are in need of any of these options, please apply to REIC as soon as possible. Any payment plans established prior to the end of January will be exempt from the Late Fee.
