From The Desk of the

Executive Director

2009 has been moving along at a feverish pace. I can’t believe that we are only a month away from the Annual Conference.

I am happy to report that membership renewal for 2009 is way ahead of our projected totals.  The passion displayed by our members through their quick response to renew their membership within REIC is encouraging to see. It illustrates that REIC members deem it important to renew membership, to keep their designation and stand out in the industry – which is essential in this turbulent economic time.

The new REIC website is continuing to flourish. Many of our students are taking advantage of having the ability to register and pay for courses online. This feature has also been extremely beneficial for everyone who plans to attend the conference in Halifax. A large portion of our registrants have come through online registration.

The next step is the chapter website's. I know Ted and Lee have been hard at work putting these together and the first group is scheduled to launch at the Annual Conference.

I want to thank everyone who participated in the 2009 Pursuit of Excellence Awards Program. Close to three dozen submissions were entered this year. The large volume of nominations will certainly make the Awards Task Force decisions a challenging process. Good Luck to all those who are nominated.

For those of you who are joining us on the East Coast at the end of May, I look forward to seeing you there and catching up. If you haven’t registered yet, there is still time to secure a spot at this amazing event.

See you all in Halifax!

Yours truly,

Maura McLaren

REIC Executive Director
