REIC 2341: Property Risk Assessment, Credit & Electronic Underwriting

While this course will provide general knowledge and understanding of residential mortgage underwriting, real estate valuations and assessing risk, it will be most relevant to those with experience and background in credit and property risk assessment. This course will largely benefit and be invaluable for those participants who work in a mortgage underwriting environment.

Summary:

Property Risk Assessment, Credit & Electronic Underwriting is one of two specialty courses which, when combined with other course requirements, leads to REIC's Certified Residential Underwriter (CRU) designation. The prerequisite for this course is REIC 2340 : Mortgage Lending for Residential Housing, which REIC delivers under exclusive license from CMHC.

REIC 2341 is a three (3) day course, and operates as a "hands on" course in a real time learning environment. Participants will work with electronic systems such as emili and morty, and the various links to Equifax, Polaris, etc.

The software will demonstrate how the use of technology can provide the users with instant feedback on specific loan variables to improve the decision-making process, with an emphasis on the need for data accuracy.

REIC 2341 will address a variety of topics in mortgage lending today including: the issue of fraud, risking models in property valuation; title insurance; and the changes impacting the condominium mortgage market.

REIC 2341 will also delve further into the topic of non-traditional incomes and business for self, with tools for assessing and understanding the risk.

This course will provide a learning experience within a computer classroom, allowing each participant an individual work station and access to the software.
