Professional Recognition Programs (Designations
and Accreditations)
Discover the benefits of choosing a professionally designated REIC member. Designations and Accreditations offered by the Real Estate Institute
of Canada (REIC) are an excellent way for
consumers, investors, and portfolio managers to identify committed
and experienced real estate professionals. REIC programs are offered all across Canada,
as well as internationally. |
|
| All of these programs are built upon the "Four
Cornerstones of Professionalism": Education, Experience, Ethics and
Lifelong
Learning. These are the foundation for true professionalism in any field. |
|
| Education:
To earn an REIC designation, an individual must prove that his or her level
of education in real estate meets our demanding national and international
standards. These standards typically exceed licensing requirements and normally
involve taking specialty education in addition to other degrees, diplomas
or courses. |
Experience: Prior to being awarded an REIC designation, an individual must demonstrate several years of dedicated activity in the field for which he or she is applying. This is verified by a detailed application, interviews and reference checks. |
| Ethics: REIC members have built their careers on highly ethical practice. When becoming a member, each individual pledges to comply with our Code of Professional Standards, and to assist in its enforcement. Professional standing may be removed for contravening the Code. Several of our programs have additional, more specific Codes as well. | Lifelong Learning: REIC members are committed to staying current in their field. In order to demonstrate their commitment to continuous learning, members are encouraged to submit evidence of an average of 12 hours of training every two years to the Institute. |
| Finally, it's all voluntary! REIC professional members choose
to achieve and maintain their designations without any regulatory requirement.
They continue to take education and pay annual membership dues in order
to declare their professionalism to the public, and to current and prospective
clients. Moreover, as an organization, REIC is fully independent without
formal ties to any government or regulatory body, trade association or corporation. Ready to enhance your career? Click here to choose the designation best suited to your career path. |
